Shanghai Bank Museum


Shanghai Bank MuseumShanghai Bank Museum is the first museum which the exhibition contents are concerning financial history in China, located in Pudong District of downtown Shanghai. This museum concisely displays the 150-year-history of modern banking sector's development in Shanghai and China's financial history, with a lot of precious documents and real articles counted over 20,000 items, which include bank stamps, checks and badges, as well as several kinds of old tool such as touchstone and scale. The exhibition area consists of the History Hall, the Ancient Coins Display Hall and the Exhibition Hall. The oldest items demonstrated here are from more than 2,000 years ago, such as the "Gold Cake" coin, and the "Golden Knife Coin". The first batch of the banknotes produced and issued by China People's Bank and other invaluable relics from the revolutionary ages before the Anti-Japanese War are displayed.

Opening hours: Monday to Friday 9am-11:30am and 1pm-4pm, available for group appointment only; open to individual tourists on Wednesday 1pm-4pm.
