The former name of Hongkou Soccer Stadium is Hongkou Stadium which has 40-year glorious history. It is Chinese first stadium that held the first international sport competition in China. The football stadium was completed in 1999, and it was China’s first standard professional stadium and currently it is also the only special soccer stadium in China. Shanghai Hongkou Soccer Stadium is the main stadium for Shanghai Shenhua Football Team of National Football Level A League. In 2000, it was appraised as the excellent stadium for national Football Level A contest and excellent sports stadium.

Shanghai Hongkou Soccer Stadium is near to Luxun Park in the east and links with No. three High light-rail system. The surroundings are perfectly integrated with it.
