Rong-Family Corporation, famous as the King of Cotton Yarn and Flour in China, was one of several big domestic corporations in old China. The success of the corporation management brought Rong Family large-sum profits and massive family treasure. Due to Kuomintang high officials’ covet for its large-sum wealth, they colluded the mobsters together to kidnap Rong-Family member via despicable ways for blackmailing a lot of wealth. On April 25, 1946, the boss of Rong-Family Corporation was kidnapped in Shanghai, and this accident became the first kidnapping case.

At the eight o’clock of that day, Rong Desheng took a Ford Automobile to get out with his son and son-in-law. The car slowed down at the turn of Gao’an Road, suddenly three people wearing long gowns and hats held the short guns. They pointed to the driver and the bodyguards with pistols, later they shew the warrant for arrest authorized by the Third Army Command. They held Rong Desheng under duress and entered a black car of Songhu Police Headquarter.

The insecurity feeling was aroused by kidnapping in Rong Family; the family member waited the message beside the telephone. At noon, they received the kidnappers’ calling that they needed one-million-dollar ransom money, and one of the managers in Rong’s firm also received the kidnappers’ call for ransom, otherwise Rong’s life would not be saved. Later, under the help of one manager in firm, ransom money decreased to 500,000 dollars.

After this kidnapping, Shanghai Municipal Police Office threw a lot of policemen for that. During this case, the relationship between Shanghai police office and General Tang Enbo was worsened when the policemen encircled Tang’s private mansion. After return of Rong Desheng, policeman under the social pressure sent a large group of members to focus on that. Two months later, they succeeded in case-release.
