The Wangxingji Fan is famous both in China and abroad. The initiator of this ancient store is Wang Xingzai who lived in Hangzhou for making fans. He set his first fan store with his family in Hangzhou which has a long history about 130 years. His fans are famous for their top-quality and beautiful design. That held many customers for his family store.

In early years, Wang’s are all work in their family fan store. Another word is that Wang Xiangzai lived in a fan old and well-known family. He learnt how to make beautiful fan with his family’s character. He learnt hard and dong much experimentation to find some new ways for his design. When he was 20, he’s the best fan artisan in Hangzhou and set up his first store near Sansheng Bridge in Hangzhou.

Years later, there was a famous appliqué artisan named Chen Yizai near his home. Appliqué is an important step in fan industry. Wang Xingzai admired Chen Yizai’s inimitable appliqué and wanted learnt the skill from Mr. Chen. And also Chen Yizai learnt that Wang Xingzai is an honest but capable young man. So Chen Yizai let his daughter married with him. Wang Xingzai became Mr. Chen’s son in law. After that, they learnt from each other and found a new way to make beautiful fans which mixed Wang’s character and Chen’s character.

So, Wang Xingzai put the new skill in his fan store. That made his fans had its own character which is different from Wang’s and Chen’s but more beautiful than them. For this reason, his family store developed to a famous and strength rich store in eastern of China. After 1895, he set up some multiple shops in Shanghai and Beijing. Soon, Wang Xingzai was dead for serious disease. His son, Wang Ziqing inherited all of stores from him and worked hard to develop them more strongly. In 1937, he enrolled “Wangxingji Fan” for his own brand.

For the fans’ character in design and shape, this made them popular in China and the sales is good at home and abroad. It’s useful in perform, art, and rich situation. Most famous people love to use the fans to show their charm and identity. So Wangxingji fan is praised as “the King of Fan”.
